Vivienne Westwood held his first fashion show in India on April 1 at the Gateway of India, Mumbai. The show was star studded where everyone looked dazzling, but there was one particular person that shined more than everyone else and that was Radhika Merchant.
Radhika Merchant wore a custom-made saree and paired it with a 1990 Vivienne Westwood corset, that made the outfit unique, blending the Indian heritage and Westwood’s vintage charm. The outfit styled by Rhea Kapoor, features the French painter François Boucher's portrait of Daphnis and Chloe on the ivory and silk corset. The corset has an asymmetrical hem, a sweetheart neckline, and sleeveless designs.
With a custom silk saree that reflected Renaissance-style artistry and had a lavish golden border, Radhika's ensemble was the ideal tribute to India's textile expertise as well as Vivienne Westwood's legacy. She made a powerful fashion statement by adding an ethereal touch to her look by elegantly draped the pallu over one arm.
Radhika chose to wear a white choker necklace with a stunning stone set in it, along with diamond ear studs, to keep her accessories simple but striking. Her overall style was subtly contrasted with a black beaded bracelet on one hand.
Her makeup style adhered to the idea of subtle grace. She let her ensemble steal the show with her hair arranged in a messy bun and a tidy middle part. Her perfect look was finished with thick lashes, contoured cheeks, soft nude eyeshadow, defined black eyeliner, and a touch of pink lipstick.
