Farmers and Trade Unions Protesting against Government Policies, cheack which services are affected and twitter reactions to the strike

With crores of workers and farmers supporting the nationwide strike called by 10 central unions to protest against various policies of the government, this jointly called nationwide strike hit several services across the country. The strike results and affected more in Delhi side areas, also in West Bengal, Left parties and Congress blocked the railway tracks. While markets are closed and bus services are disrupted in Kochi.

The ten central unions are included in this ‘Bharat Bandh’, Indian National Trade Union Congress, All India Trade Union Congress, Hind Mazdoor Sabha, Centre of Indian Trade Unions, All India United Trade Union Centre, Trade Union Co-ordination Centre, Self-Employed Women’s Association, All India Central Council of Trade Unions, Labour Progressive Federation and United Trade Union Congress.

The strike is simply to protest against government’s unorganized policies and to demand allotted 10 kilograms free ration per person per month to all needy people. Also demands the expansion of MGNREGA, the rural employment guarantee scheme, to provide 200 days’ work in a year in rural areas at increasing wages and also extension of the employment guarantee to urban areas.

The demands also includes the withdrawal of all ‘anti-farmer laws’ and anti-worker labour codes. Trade unions are also protesting to stop the privatization of public sector.

A large number of services are affecting due to this nationwide strike; industries, banking and transport are majorly affected as national trade unions are taking part in the one-day strike from various sectors. Farmers, Scheme workers, domestic workers, construction workers, beedi workers, hawkers, vendors, agricultural workers, self-employed in rural and urban areas, auto and taxi drivers, railway, defense employees are participating in the strike.

The hashtag #iamwithfarmers trends in India as many politicians are also visiting farmers protest in Delhi. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala interacted with farmers in Panipat, marching towards Delhi.

People are showing displeasure towards Modi Government and Security services for treating farmers as enemies. Also people are targeting Modi Government for giving Y Security to Kagana Ranaut and slaughtering farmers and protestors with water cannons.
