This pandemic is affecting our fitness schedule and our mental health. We can’t go out to the gym as we are locked down inside our home. But we can definitely work on our fitness and take care of our well-being. We roped in the fitness freak Debina Bonnerjee and asked her about her fitness mantras and routine. Here are some excerpts from the conversation :

Everyone is locked down inside the 4 walls so how do you manage to stay fit as we can not even go to the gym?

-After the last unlock I started going to the local parks with my parents. Suddenly last week we saw that the park was locked. This is a phase where our schedule has messed up so after that we take a walk in our building only. A few days back I was talking to Gurmeet that this is what we did one year ago and now the same things are happening. Last year we observed some flowers in our building and now after one year, those flowers have blossomed again. So, it’s a kind of a discovery that we are doing these days

Fitness tips from your end to all the girls and boys out there?

-Fitness is not a goal. We judge one’s fitness by their body shape but it’s not that. Understand your body and do something. Our lifestyle is stagnant. Our current environment doesn’t allow us to walk a lot. So, it’s so important to take out some time and do some work out at home only. There are so many fitness videos that are available on the Internet. Sometimes I post a video and people comment I don’t have time because of my children and husband. We help everyone but we should take out time for ourselves also. If we can get fit so in the long run we can not help anyone.

In the pandemic physical exercise is not the only thing but you have to be mentally stable, so, what is your advice for the same?

  • People should be aware of mental health. Last year I suffered from panic attacks. So, you must understand that it is a disease and we should discuss it. We talk about our physical diseases but we don’t talk about our mental disturbance. We google such things but not talk about them. I think we will get a faster solution when we will talk to our loved ones about this. This pandemic is affecting our fitness schedule and our mental health.
