The film's official social media handle shared a reel with the caption, “You will be changed. Wicked: For Good, only in theaters November 21, 2025.💚” Referring to the song For Good, the new title implies that the Wicked Witch of the West is fine being called wicked if her cause is for the good of all of Oz.

The song in the original musical adds more context to the new title where Elphaba gives the Grimmerie back to Glinda and asks her to continue her cause as she, spoiler alert, fakes her death by getting dissolved from water by the hands of Dorothy. So in the end, for the citizens of Oz, the wicked witch is dead and for the witch herself, she is free from the fear of constantly being hunted down.

For Good is a song about how their friendships have changed their lives and how they have changed each other’s story. The lyrics imply that however their stories end, it doesn’t matter since they know each other, and their existence has rewritten their lives. And the film, in general, will leave that impression on the audience. The first film has become a pop culture phenomenon, letting fans connect with the story and reflect on their own life. The second film will possibly give Elphaba the ending she deserves, for good.

The second instalment of the musical adaptation starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will hit the theatres on November 21, 2025, and will feature two original songs.
