Top Dawg Entertainment founder and CEO Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith has taken to social media to declare the end of the ongoing feud between rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
In a tweet posted last week (May 10), Tiffith addressed the rivalry between the two artists while promoting the upcoming TDE 20th anniversary compilation album. "This battle is over," he stated. "A win for the culture, while keeping it all on wax."
Tiffith emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy competition in hip-hop and celebrated the victory of resolving the feud without escalating tensions. "Especially when these publications try to make it something else," he added. "We proved them wrong. That’s a victory within itself."
The announcement comes amid speculation and anticipation surrounding the first-ever TDE compilation album, hinted at by Jay Rock in a previous interview. Rock, a member of the hip-hop supergroup Black Hippy alongside Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, and ScHoolboy Q, revealed plans for the album last December.
"It’s been 20 years since TDE [has] been in the game," Rock stated. "So we are putting together a compilation album, so we should be dropping that at the top of the year."
The TDE roster boasts a talented lineup of artists, including SZA, Reason, Isaiah Rashad, Doechii, Ab-Soul, Lance Skiiiwalker, Zacari, Ray Vaughn, and SiR. While Kendrick Lamar departed from the label in 2022 to pursue his own creative agency, pgLang, his involvement in the upcoming compilation album is anticipated alongside other TDE artists.
As fans eagerly await further details about the TDE 20th anniversary compilation album, Tiffith's announcement marks a significant moment in hip-hop culture, signaling the end of a notable feud and the beginning of a new chapter for the acclaimed record label.
