The film, directed by Sameer Vidwans and produced by Shareen Mantri Kedia and Kishor Arora, clinched the prestigious Best Film award for its poignant portrayal of India's first female physician specializing in Western medicine, Anandi Gopal Joshi.
Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra State Awards honoured films released between 2019-2022, highlighting the resilience and creativity of the film industry during these unprecedented times. 'Anandi Gopal,' which had previously won the National Award for Best Film (Social Awareness), continued its winning streak by securing wins in multiple categories at the State Awards, including Best Film (Social Awareness), Best Director (Social Awareness), Best Dialogue, and Best Production Design.
Producer Shareen Mantri Kedia expressed her gratitude for the recognition, stating, "It's an honour to receive the prestigious Maharashtra State Award for a film that is very close to our hearts. We at Namah Pictures are delighted for this recognition and look forward to creating more such impactful stories in the future."
Director Sameer Vidwans, who was also honoured with the Best Director award, shared his thoughts on the win, saying, "Anandi Gopal is a story that we as a team knew we wanted to showcase. It's a story with so much soul and inspiration - a true triumph of the human spirit. Winning this award feels like a real victory, and I hope to continue living up to this honour in the future as well."
The winning trio of Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora, and Sameer Vidwans also celebrated the success of their 2023 film 'Satyaprem ki Katha,' which emerged as one of the most commercially successful films of the year. Starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, the film further solidified the trio's reputation for delivering impactful and commercially successful cinema.
With 'Anandi Gopal' and 'Satyaprem ki Katha,' Namah Pictures has once again proven its commitment to producing high-quality cinema that resonates with audiences and critics alike. As they continue their journey in the world of filmmaking, audiences eagerly anticipate their upcoming projects, hoping for more such magical storytelling experiences.
