Renowned for his portrayal of Laxmana in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, actor
Sunil Lahri has expressed disappointment towards the voters of Ayodhya for their electoral choice in the recent
Lok Sabha polls. Lahri expressed displeasure
for not voting for BJP, and choosing Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad. Despite the symbolic importance of the recently inaugurated Ram temple in Ayodhya. With BJP's
Vishwadeep Singh, losing the election in the Faizabad constituency, where the temple stands, Lahri also
expressed his disappointment and went on to call Hindu 'Swarthi (Selfish)'.
While sharing a series of stories on instagram, the actor said that, "Hum yeh bhool gaye yeh wohi Ayodhyavaasi hai. Jinhone vanvaas se aane ke baad Sita mata par bhi sandeh kiya tha. (We are forgetting that these are the same Ayodhya citizens who doubted Goddess Sita after she returned from exile. What do you call the person who even denies God? Selfish. History stands proof that the citizens of Ayodhya always betrayed their king. Shame on them)."
The actor also shared an instagram post saying that , "I was very disappointed to see the election results, firstly the voting was low and then this result.. But I am happy about one thing that 2 of my favourite won the election... Congratulations ".
The actor also congratulated two of his favourite
candidates for winning the Lok Sabha elections saying, "I want to congratulate two of my favourite candidates who have won the elections", "First,
Kangana Ranaut, who is the symbol of women empowerment, has won the Mandi seat and secondly,
Arun Govil, my elder brother, has won from Meerut. I congratulate both of them".
Arun Govil was seen playing the character of Lord Rama in the Ramayan TV series along with Sunil Lahri who played the role of Lakshmana in the show.
