In a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t stop laughing when a contestant asked about his time with Jaya Bachchan. Sumitra Dinesh, the contestant, inquired if Jaya Bachchan ever complains about him not spending enough time with her due to his busy KBC shooting schedule. Amitabh and Jaya, who married in June 1973, have been together for over 40 years.
To the question, Amitabh Bachchan responded, “Oho kya bataye? Yeh joh parivarik prashn puch lete hai na log yaha aake..usmei humko bada kasht hota hai." The Bollywood superstar reminisced about a time when he was juggling the shooting of three films simultaneously. He shared how this hectic schedule left him little time for his family. “Kayi saal beet gaye aur hum aagaye film udyog mei. Edhar kaam karna shuru kardia. Hamara kaam joh tha woh teen teen shift mei hota tha. Subah 7 baje se leke dupahar 2 baje tak ek film ek shift. 2 baje dupahar se leke 10 baje tak raat ko dusri alag film, dusra shift."
The actor from Kalki 2898 AD shared that he used to work on another movie from 10 PM to 6 AM as well.He remembered his father, the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan, noticing how hard he was working and saying, " “Bole beta tum kaam bahut karte hoh. Hum bole bauji paisa badi mushkil se milta hai."Amitabh Bachchan then shared that even though he was away from home a lot during that time, his wife Jaya was incredibly supportive and never complained.
Amitabh Bachchan has hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) since it started in 2000, except for the third season, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. Season 16 of the show just began on Sony TV earlier this month. In the first episode, Big B became emotional as he shared a heartfelt message with everyone who has watched and supported him throughout his journey on KBC.
He said that, “Today marks the start of a new season. But I’m a little short of words today. And that’s because no word has the capacity to convey the gratitude for your love,” he said in Hindi and then added, “I can’t come up with the words to thank you for your prayers which gave a new life to Kaun Banega Crorepati, which illuminated this stage again, and which reunited a family and allowed me to be present among you. I salute this country’s people for the resurrection, rebuilding, and rebirth of KBC.”
