J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter Book Series is one of the best fantasy book series out there with a massive fan base, and just as big is the fan base for the films. Now HBO is planning to reboot the film franchise but as a TV series spanning across multiple series with new actors following the same old story in detail this time.

While the general public loved the Harry Potter films, one major issue bugged the book fanbase, which was that the films were cutting out a lot of stories in order to fit each book into a film of nearly 2 hours. But that was the only option since no one could watch a 4-hour-long movie. This is what the series could be targeting to gift the masses the full story and make money off the beloved characters.

After all, it has to be a profit-oriented move to reboot a billion-dollar franchise again for TV. But it does help this new generation to witness the magic we felt when we watched the films for the first time. So you can understand, a lot is on the shoulders of this series. But it seems that the producers have a lot of faith in it. In an interview, they revealed that it is going to be a decade-long series, hinting towards the fact that the one book per season format might not be followed this time.

Since the plot and story are the same, it's the actor who can make this series worth watching. From what is known, the studios have already started casting the characters of Harry, Ron and Hermione. Apart from that, sources claim that Mark Rylance has been approached to play Dumbledore,  Paapa Essiedu for Severus Snape, and Cillian Murphy is rumoured to play Voldemort.

HBO has also announced that the shooting of the series will be in the same studio where the original film was produced. While no trailer or poster is yet announced, the first season is expected to stream in 2026, 15 years after the last film graced the big screen.
