The England cricket team which will be touring India for four Tests, five T20Is and three ODIs over the next two months will be arriving in India in two separate batches. The first batch will arrive on January 22, the players who are currently in Sri Lanka for the on-going series will reach on January 27.

The Test series will begin from February 5, Chennai will host the first two matches of the bilateral series. England’s majority of the Test side, including captain Joe Root, is currently in Sri Lanka. Several players like vice-captain Ben Stokes, have not travelled to Sri Lanka. English players who didn’t travel to the island nation will arrive directly in India from the UK.

The two batches of England cricketers will be in a strict quarantine upon their arrival in Indian. The duration and quarantine rules aren’t confirmed yet, Chennai will serve as the visitors’ base initially.


The hosts India have already announced their squad for the first two Test matches, while England is expected to announce their squad on Thursday.
