The 2024 Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles, celebrating the best in television. Historical drama Shogun and FX’s The Bear stole the spotlight, dominating their respective Drama and Comedy categories. Co-host Daniel Levy noted early in the ceremony that Shogun had already made Emmy history before any awards were handed out, breaking the record for most Emmys won by a drama in a single season with 14 victories in minor categories.
Shogun continued its sweep, taking home major awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, Best Lead Actress in a Drama for Anna Sawai, and Best Lead Actor in a Drama for Hiroyuki Sanada. Meanwhile, The Bear secured Best Lead Actor in a Comedy for Jeremy Allen White and multiple supporting acting awards, though it lost out to Hacks for Outstanding Comedy Series.
