Mid-Year Report : Top 3 Disappointing News In Bollywood Till Now in 2019

We are halfway through 2019 and the year has been all about mostly hits and a few misses for Bollywood. Let’s find out what went wrong…

2019 has been a good year for B-Town till now financially and we have also got our hands on some really good films and amazing performances. From URI to Lukka Chuppi and Gully Boy, the viewers have continuously got entertained right from January and had a very little to complain. Actors like Vicky Kaushal and Kartik Aaryan proved again that they are here to stay in Bollywood and have gained the ‘star status’ in 2o19.

On the other side, we also saw a few misses and disappointments which left us puzzled as they were totally not expected. Films having the most impressive star-cast to films from the biggest banners tanked at the box-office right from the word go. Either it has been complete dismissal or it has been showering of only love, there has been no middle ground.  Let’s decode what disappointed Bollywood the most!

The Manikarnika Fiasco Gained More Eyeballs Than Manikarnika’s Success : The controversy between the director of the film and Kangana Ranaut , it seemed like Manikarnika : The Queen Of Jhansis was a really disappointing for us to go through this controversial arena before we witnessed the awesome movie. The director stepped out of the film while Kangana took over and even the fake horse video added to the negativity though it was totally needless and irrelevant. What we mean to say is that we feel Kangana Ranaut is an actress with such grandeur, stardom and talent that such controversies are not needed to sell her movies, we love watching her talent on screen and behind the camera sans these controversies. What was even more worse is that it was these controversies that made headlines rather than the success of the films. Even after so much negativity we are glad that movie did wonders at the box office and won critical acclaim all over India. What do you all think?

The Kalank Of Kalank : Easily the most anticipated films of the year right since the time it was announced, the Dharma film, Kalank tanked at the box-office right from Day 1 when the mouth to mouth publicity did the most obvious thing. Right from having the biggest of stars, lavish sets and soothing music, the film had it all but lost the most important ingredient, a solid script and hence the result. Well, it was just the start for Dharma Productions in 2019 and they needed a big hit but alas, things didn’t shape the way they wanted!

Bharat Debacle : Very seldom it happens that a Salman Khan film releases on Eid and receives such bad reviews. The movie just minted 200 crores at the box-office but the backlash which Khan has received for his acting must have really affected him. A few reviews even read that he must quit acting now because he just can’t take out the ‘Salman Khan’ element from any of his role where he could have done so much more in an author backed role. Bharat opened great at the cinemas but the harsh reviews really took away a lot of the possible further business which it could have done all thanks to the poor performances and weak direction.

Well, we are sheer optimists and are looking at the brighter side as there are so many interesting films gearing up for release in the second half of 2019 and we wish we get more iconic and successful films in the coming time. Well, we can’t wait for Kabir Singh, Super 30 etc. Tell us about your most anticipated film of 2019 in the comments-section below.
