In the 51st match of the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians will face Delhi Capitals in Dubai at Dubai International Cricket Stadium at 3:30 PM IST. MI has acquired the number one position with 16 points and also the first team to qualify for playoffs while on the other hand, DC has occupied the third spot with 14 points.
MI has played 12 games out of which they won eight and lost four, DC also had 12 games, they were victorious seven times and were on the losing side on five occasions. In Rohit Sharma’s absence, the Kieron Pollard led MI will be entering into this match with a comprehensive victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in their previous game. Mumbai’s top three which consists of Quinton De Kock, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav have been effective throughout the season for the team. With the presence of Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya and Pollard in the middle order provides a great depth to Mumbai’s batting line up. Jasprit Bumrah has been a pick of the bowlers, he is among the top five highest wickets takers of the tournament so far. Along with Bumrah and Boult, Rahul Chahar, Krunal Pandya and James Pattinson have been able to condense the opponents’ batting line up in the middle overs.
The young Delhi team will be entering into the afternoon’s game with a back to back defeats. DC need two points to book a seat for themselves in the playoffs which they have been looking for the past three matches. The experienced opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane have been failing to start well in the powerful. With a mere contribution from the middle order, the Shreyas Iyer led DC isn’t able to put up a good total on the board or chasing down targets.
Kieron’s Mumbai will be aiming to claim this victory and retain the topmost position on the points table while Shreyas and his men would want to grab the two points and qualify for the playoffs.
