IPL 13 runner-ups Delhi Capitals kick starts their campaign with some power packed performances by opening duo Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, who made the tough looking target easy to chase in the last overs.
Rishabh Pant starts new journey to his cricket career leading from the front as a seasonal captain. He marks his first match as a captain in his court with some dashing decisions while fielding. Earlier Delhi Capitals won the toss and invited Chennai Super Kings to bat first.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis couldn’t manage to control the nerves and got in the dugout early as a reason Moin Ali and Suresh Raina hold the strings for CSK in the middle. Suresh Raina made a suitable comeback after 2 years with a 50+ run mark and gave another reason to call him a one of the best IPL batsman.
Moin Ali, who was playing an attacking role couldn’t control his nerves and got caught, CSK again lose the momentum for few overs as Rayadu too got out early while Raina got trapped in a blunder with Jadeja and got run-out. On the other hand, MS Dhoni’s most awaited inning got finished in three balls when Avesh Khan managed to bowled him.
Jadeja and Sam Curran then took out their classy batting skills and put an attacking 50+ partnership with the strike rate of 200+. CSK scored 188 runs on board but as MSD said on the toss those runs were not enough on such pitches.
Delhi’s opening duo made it all clear from the first over when Shaw and Dhawan scored amazing knocks in short period. Shaw scored 72 runs off 38 balls with the strike rate of 189.9 while Dhawan scored 85 off 54 with 10 fours and 2 sixes.
CSK made a slight comeback in the finishing over but it was too late, Rishabh Pant and Stoinis managed to go through it and Hetmyre scored winning runs. CSK might lose the match but got some amazing performances in the batting side while Delhi Capitals has warned all the teams that they can still win the matches without Shreyas Iyer, Rabada, Nortje and some experienced dug out players.
