What started as a family conflict over a father's wish to remarry took a deadly turn when he fatally shot his only son, 52, for repeatedly opposing the decision. In Jasdan, Rajkot, a 76-year-old man shot and killed his 52-year-old son after a heated dispute over his decision to remarry. The accused, Rambhai Boricha, was taken into custody following a police complaint filed by the victim’s wife.
Deputy SP KG Zala stated that Prabhat Boricha was shot by his father on Monday. While initial reports suggested that a land dispute was the cause of the crime, further investigation revealed that the conflict stemmed from Rambhai’s desire to remarry nearly two decades after his wife’s passing. His decision had led to repeated conflicts within the family, and he had even been warned of harming his son and his family in the past.
On the morning of the incident, Prabhat’s wife, Jayaben, accompanied him to serve tea to his father. As she was walking back, she suddenly heard two gunshots from inside the house.
Rushing back, she found the door locked. Moments later, Rambhai emerged with a gun and attempted to attack her, forcing her to flee. When her son arrived later, she recounted the shocking events. Upon entering the house, they discovered Prabhat lying in a pool of blood, while Rambhai sat nearby. Prabhat was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Following Jayaben’s complaint, the police arrested Rambhai Boricha. An investigation into the case is currently underway.
