India reported 90,123 new COVID cases on September 16. With that, India has crossed the mark of 5 million cases. The country also reported 1,290 deaths in the last 24 hours as per the data shared by the Union Health Ministry. The country’s recovery rate is of 78.52%.
The number of people who have died due to disease now stands at 82,066 with a case fatality rate of 1.63%. So far, 39 lakh people have been cured of this disease, and approximately, 83,000 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours.
In the state’s tally, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by the pandemic with a tally of 10.7 lakh cases in total with reporting more than 17,000 new cases again. The ministry said on Tuesday, the state reported 34.44% of the deaths in the last 24 hours.
According to the health ministry’s report around 48.8% of the active cases are in three states — Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. States like Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Kerala, and Telangana contribute close to a quarter of 24.4% of the active cases.
