Due to the sudden rise of cases diagnosed with Coronavirus, movies like Sooryavanshi and 83 are likely to push their release dates.
You must be knowing already that several Hollywood films have pushed their release dates due to the outspread of Coronavirus in other parts of the world like the next James Bond flick. And with 12 cases being detected alone in Kerala, it seems like Bollywood films and the producers might also postpone the release date of their upcoming films.
Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif which is supposed to release on March 24 might get a new release date as per sources. It is expected that Rohit Shetty along with Akshay Kumar and the head of Reliance Entertainment would be meeting to decide a new release date for the film. The source told us,
“Rohit Shetty’s last offering, Simmba, had opened at approximately R20.7 crore. But the tracking shows that Sooryavanshi may open at a lower figure. It is obvious that the projection has dipped due to the ongoing COVID-19 scare. More importantly, Maharashtra is an important centre for Hindi films, and with new cases in Nashik and Pune, the footfalls are bound to drop in the coming days. So, they are toying with the idea of delaying the release by a few weeks.”
With theaters being already shut after the state-government’s orders in Kerala which had 12 active cases of Coronavirus, the similar situation might occur in the neighboring states if Covid 19 positive cases are detected. The makers of 83 starring Ranveer Singh might also follow the lead as it is touted to be one of the biggest films of the year. A source added,
. “The trailer launch, which was originally scheduled to take place today, has been moved to a later date. It’s possible that 83 will release post IPL in the first week of June. Karan Johar’s production Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl too may be pushed from its April 24 date.”
“Rumours are rife that both Sooryavanshi and 83 will be pushed ahead. Right now, it’s a wait-and-watch scenario. If they are indeed delayed, the theatres will be affected; the movies won’t suffer,” added the birdie.
Let’s now see whether the deadly Coronavirus will be affecting release dates of prominent Bollywood films or not!
