March 24th 2020 was supposed to be explosive as Rohit Shetty’s most ambitious project, Sooryavanshi, starring the superstar Akshay Kumar was about to hit the theaters. The big budgeted three-quel to Singham and Simmba was highly anticipated film in the Rohit Shetty’s cop universe but COVID-19 deadly virus played the spoil sport on the fate of its release after government of India announced the 21-days complete lockdown.
The previous releases like Tiger Shroff starrer Baaghi 3 could crashed in its second week of release, collecting just close to Rs 98.5 crore against a budget of Rs 100 crore while Irrfan Khan’s comeback back, Angrezi Medium, could not take take off as many cinema halls started shutting down the screens amid the fear of virus spreading.

Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty collaboration Sooryavanshi was not just the only film which got hit by the impact of COVID-19. The release dates of Ranveer Singh and director Kabir Khan’s highly anticipated sports drama ’83, which was supposed to release on 10th April, 2020 , has been shifted to a later date, which again is not fixed. While these films were in their post-production stage, the shooting of biggies which was supposed to clash this year on EID 2020 – Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb and Salman Khan’s Radhe, has been halted as a precautionary measures to prevent the spread of virus by following the social distancing.
There were big budgeted films which got impacted. Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar directed by Dibakar Banerjee, produced by Yash Raj Films, and starring Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor, was scheduled to release on the 20th of March. Rana Daggubati starrer Haathi Mere Saathi – also known as Aranya in Telugu and Kaadan in Tamil – has been pushed to an undisclosed date. The movie was earlier set to release on the 2nd of April, 2020.
