Charlie’s Angels actor, Cameron Diaz recently revealed why she has seemingly quit the movie business. To this she replied by saying she found “peace” when she quit acting.
Diaz had made an appearance on Gwyneth Paltrow’s In goop Health: The Sessions series on Wednesday.
On the show, both the actors discussed about Diaz’s wine business. Cameron spoke a lot, especially how her mentality changed as she was aging and becoming more mature.
Diaz also told about how her move impacted her career had on her well-being and relationships. Cameron said, “I just decided that I wanted different things out of my life. I had gone so hard for so long, working, making films and it’s such a grind. I didn’t really make any space for my personal life.“
She continued, “Peace. I got peace in my soul.” She added: “I finally was taking care of myself. When you’re making a movie, it’s a perfect excuse — they own you. You’re there for 12 hours a day for months on end and you have no time for anything else. Actors are infantilized. We’re put in a position where everything is taken care of for us.“
Diaz added, “I had to become self-sufficient and prove to myself that I could take care of myself as an adult. So I started putting all the pieces of my life together with the way that I wanted it to be put together, not how other people thought it should go.”
Diaz also complained about the fame and popularity being a part of an actor’s life, “There’s a lot of energy coming at you at all times when you’re really visible as an actor and doing press and putting yourself out there.”
After retiring, Diaz has written two books–The Body Book and The Longevity Book. She is now enjoying her married life with singer, Benji Madden and their daughter, Raddix Madden.
