Privacy Breach Scandal: KORAIL Reinstates Employee Involved in BTS RM's Data Access

New Update

In a surprising turn of events, the Korean Railway Corporation (KORAIL) has reinstated an employee, "A," who illegally accessed personal data of BTS leader RM. Despite a serious breach of privacy laws, the Central Labor Relations Commission overturned the initial dismissal, ordering the reinstatement of "A" with regular wage payment.

The scandal unfolded when "A," an IT development staff member at KORAIL, accessed RM's personal information, including ticket details, address, and phone number, over a three-year period. "A" admitted to doing so out of curiosity and even shared RM's seat information with a friend. This privacy violation led to their dismissal.

Initially dismissed on the grounds of the severity of the breach, "A" successfully challenged the decision through the Central Labor Relations Commission. The commission's ruling has sparked controversy over the handling of privacy breaches and the consequences faced by employees involved in such incidents.
