The incident occurred during the 2024 Festa event in June, shortly after Jin's discharge from military service. At a "fan hug" event, a Japanese woman in her 50s, referred to as Ms. A, kissed Jin on the cheek without his consent. The act was captured on video, showing Jin visibly uncomfortable, and led to public outcry among fans.

Initially, Ms. A had left for Japan, prompting Korean authorities to collaborate with Japanese Interpol to request her return for questioning. The investigation was suspended in March due to her absence. However, upon her recent voluntary return to Korea, the police resumed the probe. Ms. A has been charged under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act for committing sexual assault in a public place and has been forwarded to the prosecution for further investigation.

Another individual, identified as "B," is also accused of similar misconduct at the same event but remains untraced by the police.
