The video transitions from a melancholic black-and-white ambience to a burst of colours, breathing life into the visuals. Described as a pop ballad, "Hate You" combines lofi piano melodies with Jungkook's emotive vocals, portraying the heart-wrenching moment of forcing oneself to despise an innocent beloved due to overwhelming emotions.

Jungkook has recently treated fans to pop remixes of his Golden tracks, including renditions with Justin Timberlake ("3D") and Usher ("Standing Next to You"). In November, he shared an update on his impending military enlistment, expressing a mix of emotions and thanking ARMY for their unwavering support.

Following the release of "Hate You," Jungkook delivered a heart-melting live performance at iHeartRadio, potentially marking his last stage before military service. The accompanying music video and live performance drew emotional responses from fans, with many expressing their love, support, and hopes for his well-being during his military journey.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Big Hit and HYBE described "Hate You" as a pop ballad that evokes deep emotions through a simple blend of lofi piano and Jungkook's vocals, capturing the poignant theme of reluctantly turning away from an innocent love that becomes too overwhelming to bear.

As Jungkook prepares for his military service alongside BTS member Jimin, the remaining members - RM and V - are also set to fulfill their mandatory enlistment. The agency has urged fans not to visit the base camp for the safety of other soldiers, emphasizing the group's commitment to their military duties while expressing gratitude for the support of ARMY.
