BTS fans, mark your calendars. A new documentary titled Forever We Are Young is making its way to theatres on July 30, but with a different twist—it isn’t centered on the seven BTS members. Instead, it shines the spotlight on ARMY, the group’s passionate global fanbase.
Directed by award-winning filmmakers Grace Lee and Patty Ahn, the film takes viewers through the journey of BTS’ rise, as seen through the eyes of their fans. It tells stories from fans across different countries, generations, and walks of life, all tied together by one common thread: their connection to BTS and the music.
Unlike previous BTS documentaries, Forever We Are Young puts ARMY in the lead. It dives into how the fandom has created a global community based on creativity, unity, and support. From dance classes in Seoul teaching BTS choreography to conventions in places like Lewisville, Texas, the film highlights the real-world bonds and healing fans have found through BTS.
According to reports, the film focuses on how ARMY uses music as a way to express identity and belong. One of its core messages is about how music connects people emotionally—even across languages and continents.
While RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook don’t play lead roles in this documentary, their presence is still deeply felt. The filmmakers show how BTS' music, performances, and message of self-love continue to shape ARMY’s values and actions.
With six Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles, sold-out world tours, and global recognitions like TIME's Entertainer of the Year (2020) and AMA’s Artist of the Year (2021), BTS' influence goes far beyond music charts. And this film captures how fans helped build that legacy, not just celebrated it.
