Billboard Korea recently found itself under fire after excluding BTS’s Suga from an Instagram post. On December 24, the outlet shared an edited fan-made post featuring Jungkook’s recent live broadcast.
However, fans quickly noticed that Suga, who was included in the original fan edit, had been removed from the version posted by Billboard Korea.
Here is the original post
The post sparked outrage among BTS fans, many of whom accused the media outlet of deliberately excluding Suga. Speculation grew that the omission might be linked to Suga’s DUI case earlier this year, which had already drawn significant public attention. Fans expressed their frustration, claiming the exclusion seemed like an attempt to sideline the idol.
Although Billboard Korea deleted the post shortly after the backlash, the damage was already done. Fans flooded the outlet’s other Instagram posts with comments, demanding an explanation and an apology for the exclusion. One fan wrote, “Editing out Suga feels disrespectful. He deserves the same recognition as the rest of the group.”
The incident has reignited discussions about how media outlets handle controversies involving idols and whether such actions reflect bias. Fans argued that despite the earlier controversy, Suga remains an integral part of BTS and should not be excluded from group-related content.
Even after the post’s removal, fans have not stopped voicing their anger, calling for more responsible reporting and fair treatment of all members.
Billboard Korea has yet to release a statement addressing the controversy.
