On September 30, BIGHIT MUSIC issued an official statement detailing its ongoing legal efforts to protect BTS from defamation and malicious attacks. The agency is pursuing action against individuals, including YouTuber Sojang, for defamation, spreading false information, and personal attacks.
The statement highlighted that BIGHIT MUSIC has been collecting evidence through fan reports and internal monitoring of online forums such as Ilgan Best, DC Inside, theqoo, and FMKorea. Complaints have been submitted to investigative authorities, and trials for some offenders are underway. The agency also reported that individuals from prior complaints, forwarded to the prosecutor’s office, have been sentenced to fines for defamatory posts on forums like NAVER and Nate Pann. Some of these users repeatedly posted malicious content and received maximum fines for each charge.
The first trial for damages incurred by Taldeok Camp (탈덕수용소) has also begun, with further legal procedures ongoing. BIGHIT MUSIC remains committed to working closely with law enforcement to ensure that individuals who acquired and spread BTS members' personal information are appropriately punished.
The agency emphasized that its legal efforts would continue during BTS’s military service, ensuring that offenders face strict penalties. It also confirmed that there would be no leniency or settlements in any of the cases.
BIGHIT also introduced a revamped reporting system, the “HYBE Artist Rights Infringement Report System,” allowing fans to report violations of BTS’s rights more efficiently.
BIGHIT MUSIC expressed deep gratitude to BTS’s fanbase, ARMY, for their continued support and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the group’s rights.
