The memories back from 2019 we had were totally spectacular, today we are looking forward to the memories of 2020 which was the BTS’ and ARMY’s one of the best year. BTS’s popularity and success both hiked up with an absolute masterpiece like albums and tracks like “Map Of Soul: 7”, “Dynamite”, and “BE” which were the therapy for us during the pandemic.

Map Of The Soul: 7 is their 4th studio album which was released on 21st February. It is the second part of the MAP OF THE SOUL series that contains the honest and heartfelt story of BTS and their journey of discovering their true selves.
This album looks back on the past seven years of BTS since their debut as seven members of one team BTS since their debut as seven members of one team.
The journey was not always smooth sailing, and there were special travails that they had to endure in their rise as global superstars. Now, understanding that the scars left by those hardships are a part of their real selves, BTS accepts both “the self I want to show” and the “self I want to scorn” to at last tell their own story of finding their “real and complete selves.
It has 20 tracks in total and BTS worked with Halsey, Ed Sheeran, Troye Sivan and Sia for this tracks.

Map of the Soul: 7 was a huge commercial success, reaching number one in over 20 countries and becoming the world’s best-selling album of 2020. BTS became the first Asian group to top the charts in all of the top-five music markets in the world. In the United States, it became BTS’ fourth consecutive album to debut at the number one album on the Billboard 200 chart, earning 422,000 album-equivalent units (including 347,000 sales) in its first week.
With selling more than 4.1 million copies for the first time in Gaon Album Chart’s history BTS set the Guinness World Record for the best-selling album in South Korea and was certified quadruple million by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA). It was certified platinum in the United States and Japan and earned gold certifications in seven other countries.

Map Of The Soul: 7 ~ The Journey is BTS’ 4th Japanese studio album which was released on 15th July 2020. It has 13 tracks with with “Stay Gold” serving as the album’s title track. This album features the singles “FAKE LOVE/Airplane Pt.2” and “Lights/Boy With Luv” and new original Japanese songs.

This album was certified Triple Platinum by RIAJ for the shipment of 750,000 copies. The album achieved top-20 placements on charts in six territories, top-10 in four, and top-five in six. The album was BTS’ first Japanese release to debut at number one in Portugal and became the band’s tenth chart-topper on Billboard’s World Albums Chart when it peaked at number one in August after the physical release became available in the United States.
“Dynamite” is BTS’ seventh English digital single. It’s the band’s first single fully recorded in English which was released on 21st August 2020. It has two versions “Daytime version” and the “Nighttime version.” The Daytime version includes an EDM remix and an acoustic remix was released on 24th August 2020, its a tropical remix, and a poolside remix was released on 28th August 2020. A “NightTime Version” was released on 18th September 2020 featuring slow jam, bedroom, retro, and midnight remixes.

This single garnered the band their first Grammy nomination at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and made them the first Korean pop act to be recognized by the Recording Academy.
It achieved a 610 Perfect All-Kill (PAK) on Korean charts, the most for any song. It also debuted and charted for two weeks at #1 on Billboard Hot 100, marking BTS as the first Korean act in the history to top the chart for three weeks. The group then retains the #2 spot on the chart for another four weeks. On 28th September, 2020, BTS becomes the first act to top the Hot 100, Global 200 and Global 200 Excluding U.S. charts simultaneously.
On 12th April 2021, the music video for Dynamite reached 1 billion views on YouTube.
BE is BTS’ first self-directed and seventh mini-album which was released on 20th November 2020. It was the response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, where express their mixed feelings about the situation fear and anxiety mingled with the determination to overcome all this. This album touches upon themes of comfort, loneliness, anxiety, depression, frustration, restlessness, sadness, hope, connection, and joy.
This album consists of 8 tracks including the No.1 summer hit “Dynamite” and lead single “Life Goes On.” BTS’ gives comforting message through these tracks that in the face of unexpected turns “Life Goes On” and extends their hands towards the future.

The album debuted at #1 on Billboard 200, becoming BTS’s fifth #1 on that chart. This album was the second best-selling album of 2020 in South Korea. It is the fifth-best best-selling album in South Korea of all time. As of 2021, the album has sold more than two and half million copies.
