A remake of the Bengali film Chhadmabeshi and based on Upendranath Ganguly’s Bengali story Chhadobeshi. Chupke Chupke was released in 1975, which was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and written by Upendranath Ganguly, Gulzar, D.N. Mukherjee and Mohini N. Sippy. For our youngsters, Hrishikesh Mukherjee previously made films including Guddi, Anand, Bawarchi, Abhimaan, Namak Haraam, Golmaal, Khubsoorat and Naram Garam to name a few. The man with midas touch, Hrishikesh Muherjee is known to make simple film with no glossy sets which is heart-touching and loving.
Hrishikesh Mukherjee was one of most influential director whose rib-tickling comedy films entertained the audience during 1970-80 era. His films were simple and yet heart-warming which is remembered even today. Chupke Chupke, starring veteran actors like Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Om Prakash, Sharmila Tagore and Jaya Bachchan is one of cult films which had numerous comic scenes that will bring down the entire house. As per Box Office figure, Chupke Chupke collected around Rs 1 crore at the domestic box office and Rs 2 crore worldwide. The multi-starrer film was released on 11th April, 1975.
