As the holiday season is nearing, people are thronging to the theaters which resulted in a good growth of the Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Pati Patni Aur Woh and Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon starrer Panipat on the second day at the box office.
Pati Patni Aur Woh
Kartik Aaryan should be on cloud nine as his second film of 2019, Pati Patni Aur Woh showed a very good growth on the second day after giving the actor the best opening film of his career after Luka Chuppi.
Based on the 1978 B.R Chopra’s classic, Pati Patni Aur Woh earned good reviews from the audience as per BookMyShow.com which helped the film collect Rs 9.01 crore on the first and beating previous record of Kartik Aryan starrer Luka Chuppi (Rs 8.01 crore)
As per early estimates, the Saturday collections touched the double-digit mark for Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday starrer, minting somewhere between Rs 12-13 crore and bringing the two days collections to a solid Rs 21-22 crore. The earnings should further grow on Sunday to post a healthy first weekend total. The budget of Pati Patni Aur Woh is Rs 40 crore (Production Cost: 30 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore)
Ashutosh Gowarikar can heave a sigh of relief as Panipat showed better growth on Saturday as compared to Pati Patni Aur Woh.
Based on the third and last battle of Panipat between the Maratha warriors and Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali, Panipat had earned good reviews from critics but the clash with Pati Patni Aur Woh impacted its first day opening. Though the reviews from the audience is trending positive as per BookMyShow.com, the opening of the film was below the mark, minting just Rs 4.12 crore from 2395 screens.
As per early estimates, the second day earnings of the war drama shot up by 40-45% and should collect somewhere between Rs 6-6.5 crore, bringing the two days collections to Rs 10.5-11 crore. However, this will still be considered as poor collections considering the big budget, costing around Rs 75 crore (Production Cost: 65 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore) until some big turn around happens on Sunday.
