Gather round all my lovely readers. Today I bring you my recommendation of 5 books which every young adult should read at least once in their life. These books aren’t the regular rom-com fiction you would go for. These books are very sensitive and it will open your minds to things which you’d never explored in yourself. The themes will leave you in a fix of your own questions and you would be set out on your own quest to find the answers to them. I have personally liked each of the books I’ve mentioned below. Hope you all like them too!
Writer: Candice Carty Williams
An interesting and thought provoking book. The hidden messages are well delivered in a way that makes this book relatable, intriguing and applicable to the everyday lives of black women everywhere.
2) The Hate U Give
Writer: Angie Thomas
You will be hooked to it from the very first page. The ‘Reality’ of it all really shows that this isn’t just acting it how society and the world is… All young adults should really read it once. It will help you for a sense of perspective.
3) It’s Kind Of A Funny Story
Writer: Ned Vizzine
All the YA who’ve ever been through a tough time with depression or sadness would highly relate to it. This book gives us the hope that one day it will all get better. The name of the book is quite ironic to the theme of it but it nicely brings mental health and supporting your friends into light.
4) Turtles All The Way Down
Writer: John Green
A thought provoking book which tells the story through the eyes of anxiety and OCD sufferer protagonist. You are bound to get deeply sucked into the words Green weaves together for you.
5) The Astonishing Color of After
Writer: Emily X.R. Pan
An incredibly well handled book about depression. It was Pan’s debut novel. It can be clearly seen that she knows exactly what she has been writing about. A must read!
