The much-anticipated Diwali box office clash between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again has lived up to expectations, with both films performing strongly over their opening weekend. Despite each movie finding its own audience, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 producer Bhushan Kumar revealed that efforts were made to prevent this competition. Kumar shared that both teams discussed possible solutions, but due to prior commitments and creative limitations, they couldn’t avoid the overlap.
On this the producer said, " A franchise holds a lot of value, and we were both aware of that. It’s not that we didn’t try to avoid the clash, but we each had certain commitments that made it difficult. For instance, there are pre-commitments with OTT platforms, and they don’t allow rescheduling. We had that majboori, and they had a similar situation."
Explaining the reason,he further added, " Also, they had a creative compulsion. The theme of the film was Ramayan so they definitely wanted to come on Diwali. So, we both didn’t have a choice. Though we met and discussed whether we could avoid the clash, we both tried but due to these conditions we couldn’t avoid the clash. Now, the loss that a clash brings, we both have to bear that but I am happy that both the films are working well."
Bhushan agreed that a clash can split business, especially during the festive season. But he said that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s strong opening weekend has made the film successful.
The makers of both films also had a disagreement over screen sharing. Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series raised concerns about what they saw as unfair practices by the team behind Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again in dividing theater seats. T-Series approached the Competition Commission of India (CCI), asking for a 50-50 split of screens.
