Vidya Balan on Choosing a Rented Home:'" Ghar is all about kismat "

At the 22nd Credai Natcon event in Sydney, Bollywood star Vidya Balan opened up about her house-hunting experiences to an audience of over 1,100 real estate developers. She shared life lessons about the role of luck in finding a home, as well as insights from her journey in the film industry.

Vidya Balan feels that finding the right home is all about destiny. She shared with the audience, "You walk into a house and just know it’s yours." Reflecting on her house-hunting experience from 15 years ago, she recalled looking for a place closer to her work in Bandra or Juhu to escape the long commute to Chembur.

Although Vidya Balan and her mother visited many houses, one particular property caught their eye—even though it was over their budget. Balan shared that her mother encouraged her to focus on managing the EMI, and they ended up buying the house. "When I walked into the house, it felt like my home," she said, highlighting how the purchase felt destined.

Vidya Balan and her husband, Siddharth Roy Kapur, currently live in a rented home on Carter Road, a prime spot in Mumbai. She shared, "We looked at about 25 houses but couldn’t agree on any." Having always lived in her own home, Balan found herself considering renting for the first time.

Eventually, the couple found a rented house they both liked, even though Vidya Balan was initially hesitant about renting."I was always like, I don’t want to stay in a rented house," she admitted. However, after checking out 25 houses and revisiting this one, they decided to go for it.

The rented home on Carter Road provides unique luxuries for Mumbai—a garden and a sea view. Vidya Balan noted that such features are hard to find in the crowded city. She also mentioned that their landlord is pleased, "earning a fat cheque," from the arrangement. Despite her initial reluctance about renting, Balan now feels happy in this home, enjoying its special amenities and great location.
