In June 2024, Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal became parents to a baby girl. Nearly five months later, Varun revealed her name as Lara on the October 30 episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. The name Lara has a special meaning and a connection to Citadel.
The name Lara has Latin, Greek, and Russian origins, carrying meanings like "protection," "citadel," and "cheerful." Derived from the word "lares," it connects to ancient Roman gods who guarded homes and fields. Lara is also a diminutive of Larissa, which means "citadel" or "fortress" in Greek.
Earlier this year, Varun Dhawan announced the arrival of his and Natasha Dalal’s first child on Instagram. He shared a video featuring an animated version of his dog, Joey, holding a sign that read, "Welcome, Lil’ Sis." The video also revealed her birth date as June 3, 2024.
The Citadel actor also posted a sweet animated video after his daughter's birth which said, “We are overjoyed with this new blessing in our lives. During this special time, we request the media to give us our privacy. Thank you for your support & understanding. Natasha & Varun.”
He captioned the post saying, Our baby girl is here. Thank u for all the good wishes for the mama and the baby.”
Varun Dhawan has been promoting his new spy series Citadel: Honey Bunny, an Indian spinoff of the Citadel Universe. This series is his first time working with actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The cast also includes Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, and Kashvi Majmundar.
