Her upbringing was very simple, but her first movie, Basant, which was a great success, brought Madhubala into the limelight like never before.

Following that, she was able to achieve great success. But then later she changed ger name as advised by Devika Rani, from Madhubala to Mumtaz. Aside from attaining fame for her work, her love life also attracted media attention.

The actress was infatuated by Kamal Amrohi, Dilip Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, and even Kishore Kumar. She was also appreciated by directors like Kedar Sharma and Mohan Sinha. Her life took a turn when she fell for the director of her film Mahal, Kamal Amrohi, who was by then married to Meena Kumari.

Madhubala had always pictured herself in roles of women who adored Kamal Amrohi, but did not want to be his second spouse.

Madhubala was also in the relationship of Prem Nath who also created a little bit of a drama. Nath happens to be the maternal uncle of Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor. His sister was married to Raj Kapoor the father of Rishi and Rajiv.

It is evident that both Madhubala and Nath were determined to make the relationship work and go as far as getting married. But when Nath wanted Madhubala to renounce her religion, she absolutely said no.

Later, Madhubala met Dilip Kumar. The duo soon started dating and were said to be in a relationship for nine years. However, they parted ways, and the reason for their separation was speculated to be Madhubala’s father. Finally, Madhubala tied the knot with Kishore Kumar. The duo had a stable relationship. In 1969, Madhubala passed away after battling health-related issues.
