Bollywood star Taapsee Pannu and writer-producer Kanika Dhillon are teaming up once again for a new Netflix feature film titled Gandhari, as announced by the streaming platform on Tuesday. The duo previously collaborated on Haseen Dillruba and its sequel Phir Aayi Hasseen, which premiered on Netflix on August 9.

Described as an action-thriller, Gandhari delves into a unique form of love — the deep connection between a mother and her child. According to a press release, the film promises a gripping storyline marked by intense personal stakes, relentless determination, mystery, and high-octane action. Taapsee Pannu will portray a fierce mother on a mission.

Devashish Makhija, renowned for his critically acclaimed works such as Ajji, Bhonsle, and Joram (featuring Manoj Bajpayee), will direct the film from a script written by Dhillon.

Pannu expressed excitement about her reunion with Dhillon and her new role, saying, "I did action nine years ago and have been waiting for a script that would challenge me and bring me back to it. After playing a spy, I was looking for something deeper, and Gandhari — with its powerful narrative of a mother seeking revenge — felt like the perfect fit."

Dhillon, who will produce the film under her banner Kathha Pictures, emphasized that Gandhari will highlight the fierce love and strength of a mother. She added, "You don’t mess with a tigress’ cub, or she’ll destroy you! Taapsee and I are coming together for the first time to create a raw, fiery action thriller. We’re excited for audiences to experience this emotionally charged and action-packed tale of revenge and redemption."
