"Shahid & Karina Broke up 2 days before Jab We Met," says Imtiaz Ali

Jab we Met, starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, directed by  Imtiaz Ali has become a cult classic among the GenZs and Millenials, and has been everywhere on social media. This 2007 romance movie has become the epitome of love and people aspire to have a love like them.

What made the movie an instant hit was the chemistry between the lead actors, who were also dating in real life, but broke up during the filming of Jab we Met.

While talking to a media outlet, Imtiaz Ali opened up on shooting for the movie after the couple had broken up. He said, “They broke up at the end of the film. Most of the film was shot. There were two days after their so-called break-up that we had to shoot. They were absolutely professional. No blemish, nothing at all, whatever is happening in their personal lives. That time Shahid and Kareena were not doing supremely well.”

He added, “But these ups and downs keep happening in the lives of filmmakers and actors. But as filmmakers we don’t have to speculate like stock market, judge what we think is right for a particular part and only that works. This is the learning of my life."

When asked whether he will make a sequel to the beloved film, he shared that he is not sure he should do it. This year Jab We Met celebrated 16 years of its release, but the craze of the film hasn’t decreased at all.
