Since the release of 'Animal' on December 1, 2023, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimri, the film has stirred controversy among a larger audience for its extreme violence and especially about female characters treated badly by a man in the movie. Regarding the same, many continued to express their concerns, including the legendary lyricist Javed Akhtar, who indirectly addressed the film. ‘Animal’ Team replies to Javed Akhtar

In response to Javed Akhtar's comment, the 'Animal' team has taken to social media, directly tagging him on Twitter, and has issued a reply addressing his statement about the film.

They wrote, “Writer of your calibre cannot understand the betrayal of a lover (Between Zoya & Ranvijay) then all your art form is big FALSE 🙃”

And further added saying if a woman asked to a man lick her shoe would be hailed in the name of ‘feminism’. The post additionally read, "If a woman (betrayed and fooled by a man in the name of love) would have said "lick my shoe" then you guys would have celebrated it by calling it feminism. 
Let love be free from the politics of gender. Let's just call them lovers. LOVER cheated and lied. LOVER said lick my shoe. Period

During the Ajanta Ellora International Film Festival in Aurangabad last week, Akhtar voiced his apprehensions regarding the present condition of the film industry and said, “I believe it's a testing time for the young filmmakers today as to what kind of characters they want to create that the society will applaud. For instance, if there's a film in which a man asks a woman to lick his shoe or if a man says it's okay to slap a woman, and if the film is a super-duper hit, then that's very dangerous.” The author also expressed that the responsibility of determining which movies to accept or decline ultimately rests on the shoulders of the audience.

Meanwhile, 'Animal' has emerged as one of the highest-grossing movies of 2023, amassing an impressive collection that nearly reached the 900-crore mark at the worldwide box office. It has secured the top spot on the list of all-time highest-grossing A-rated certified films.
