Ravi’s path into filmmaking is a testament to his passion and drive. Speaking in a candid interview, he reflected on his early career, which began with an opportunity to work with YRF. “YRF felt like a university,” he said. The filmmaking energy there was inspiring — every day was an education in craft, creativity, and collaboration. Being part of big-ticket movies like Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai gave him hands-on experience across action, drama, and comedy, helping him discover his own filmmaking style.

That love for cinema shaped his first feature as a director, Detective Sherdil, a modern mystery infused with humor on Z5 produced by Ali Abbas Zafar and Himanshu Mehra. “I’ve always been inclined toward comedy,” Ravi explained. “That’s my go-to emotion — I want my stories to entertain people.” Throughout the project, he focused on working closely with talented actors like Diljit and Ratna Pathak Shah, appreciating the way they embraced their roles and elevated the film with their depth and presence. The Star Cast for Detective Sherdil includes Diljit Dosanjh, Ratna Pathak Shah, Diana Penty, Chunky Pandey, Sumeet Vyas, and Banita Sandhu. The film was shot in Budapest and released on 20th June on Z5.

When asked about inspiration and aspirations, Ravi was clear: he believes stories come first. “My manifestation is to tap into that frequency where I can connect with good stories,” he noted. “If the script is right, everything else falls into place.” Even as he explores new projects — including an upcoming youth-driven comedy — Ravi stays grounded and committed to creating films that offer both intrigue and entertainment.
