The star-studded cast already includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Recent reports from Pinkvilla suggest that negotiations are underway to rope in Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta for the pivotal roles of Kumbhakarna and Kaikeyi, respectively.
According to a source close to the project, Nitesh Tiwari is meticulous in selecting actors who can truly embody the characters from this ancient Indian epic. Lara Dutta, renowned for her versatility, is said to be his ideal choice for the role of Princess Kaikeyi, the third consort of King Dasharatha. This character plays a crucial part in the unfolding of the Ramayana's conflict, and Dutta is reportedly thrilled to be a part of Nitesh Tiwari's fantastical vision.
While the Ramayana film is planned as a trilogy, Lara Dutta is expected to have a substantial role in Ramayana: Part One. She is slated to join Ranbir Kapoor in the first schedule of the film, commencing in March. The casting process is still underway for other key characters.
Sources from Pinkvilla reveal that Nitesh Tiwari is keen to cast Bobby Deol as Kumbhakarna, a character of great significance in the Ramayana narrative. However, as of now, the director is yet to receive a response from the actor. The source stated, "Bobby is yet to get back to Nitesh Tiwari on Ramayana. He might or might not do the film and will take a call in the next 2 months. Post the success of Animal, Bobby is right now flooded with offers from across the industry and he will be making his choices over the coming few months."

Meanwhile, discussions are reportedly in the advanced stages with Sunny Deol for the role of Lord Hanuman. Both Nitesh Tiwari and Ranbir Kapoor are eager to bring Sunny Deol on board for this iconic character. The success of Animal has only added to the actor's popularity, and his inclusion in the Ramayana cast would undoubtedly elevate the film's star power, Ranbir and Bobby shared screen space for Sandeep Reddy Vanga's recent hit movie 'Animal'.
