Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra made a remarkable announcement at the IIFA 2024 event in Abu Dhabi- His next film will be 'Zero Se Restart', which is a prequel to the hit and critically appreciated 12th Fail. The prequel is releasing on December 13, with the same cast including Vikrant Massey, the lead actor from 12th Fail.

It was based on Anurag Pathak's book and follows the life of a man named Manoj Kumar Sharma who starts from nowhere and works his way up to become an IPS officer. During his appearance for IIFA while walking the red carpet alongside his wife, film critic Anupama Chopra, Vidhu Vinod Chopra humorously fielded questions around awards. For instance, he was quizzed on submitting 12th Fail to be considered for an Oscar and the man made the statement: “I am not an award fellow. I’m here at IIFA because of my wife Anupama. Actually, I happen to be escorting her today. The second most important thing, the actual award, is in making a movie, watching it and after that you can say I did it or I’m sorry that was a little bit off.”

Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra starring Vikrant Massey, 12th Fail received raving reviews over the struggles faced by Manoj Kumar Sharma in order to rise up the ranks and become an IPS officer. This movie is not only based on the resolve of this individual but it is also based on how his wife assisted him in achieving his goal.
