Nana Patekar Calls The Film Animal , " Anil-mal " Praising Anil Kapoor

Nana Patekar is known for speaking unfiltered. In a recent conversation, he shared his opinion on the popular film Animal. He mentioned that he found the performances of everyone in the film to be over the top, except for Anil Kapoor.

While promoting his upcoming film Vanvaas, Nana Patekar had an interview with Anil Kapoor. During the chat, Nana shared that he was initially hesitant to watch Animal, but he decided to watch it after being motivated by the desire to see Anil's performance. Recalling this he mentioned, " I saw Animal and I called you and said, ‘I watched Anil-mal.’ You are the only person who delivered a restrained performance in the film. Everybody else’s acting was heightened. I initially refused to watch the film, but my friends forced me, saying, ‘Anil has done a great job in it.’ I wasn’t surprised."

At a previous press conference in Hyderabad, Anil Kapoor mentioned that both he and Ranbir Kapoor used their own personal experiences to play their roles in Animal. He also praised the film's director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, for making great casting decisions.

Animal was one of the most talked-about and controversial films of 2023. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, the film tells the story of a son seeking revenge for an attack on his father, played by Anil Kapoor. However, it received criticism from some viewers for supposedly promoting toxic masculinity and violent behaviour.
