His dedication to his craft has often left audience and critics in awe. His stories of how he prepped to became a certain character is testament to his unwavering commitment to his craft. During 'Srikanth', which features Rao as the blind industrialist Srikanth Bolla, Rao would refuse to come out of the character during the whole shoot. The crew would help/guide him to walk from point A to point B. In Bose: Dead/Alive, the actor gained 13 kgs and shaved his head half, something that most of the actors would use prosthetics for. In Trapped, he stopped eating for 2 weeks and lost 7kgs. 'Omerta', directed by Hansal Mehta, is known to have had a toll on Rajkummar Rao. In fact, he went so much deep into the character that when his wife Patralekhaa met him, she said that the actor wasn't himself. She left saying that he didn't have 'Raj’s energy', but had the character's energy.

These anecdotes are a deep dive into Rao's approach and love for his craft. Currently, he's gearing up for the release of 'Srikanth', which is set to release on May 10. He also has another upcoming release 'Mr & Mrs Mahi', which will release on May 31.
