Major Reasons Behind Bollywood Divorces
Popular Indian film composer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu divorced after 29 years of marriage on Tuesday. According to the media, Saira along with her lawyer Vandana Shah earlier issued a statement that she wanted a divorce. Not more than 72 hours prior to this, Vandana Shah in a podcast had expressed similar views for divorces amongst Bollywood couples.
Vandana stated, “Their lives are very different. I don’t think infidelity is the cause of breakdown of marriages. The actual cause is boredom… People in a marriage feel they have seen it all. This is very peculiar to Bollywood and super rich families. This is one thing that I have not seen in a lot of other marriages.”
She added, “Secondly, they all live very different sexual lives. The expectations of their sex life is much higher in these setups than a non-Bollywood marriage.” She further explained, “Third, adultery happens very much and one-night stands don’t really matter as much. I am not part of Bollywood, but these are my observations from the cases that have come to me.”
The few celebrity which shocked fans with their divorce are Malaika Arora-Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan-Seema Sajdeh, Hardik Pandya-Natasa Stankovic, Aamir Khan-Kiran Rao, Masaba Gupta-Madhu Mantena, Arjun Rampal-Mehr Jesia, Samantha Ruth Prabhu-Naga Chaitanya, Jayam Ravi-Aarthi and Dhanush-Aishwarya Rajinikanth.
After her announcement, AR Rahman took to his X handle to confirm the news as he wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”
The couple had tied the knot in 1995. They have kids named, Khatija Rahman, Raheema Rahman, and AR Ameen.
