Laila Majnu's Re-Release Outperforms Original Run

Laila Majnu, starring Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri, was recently pulled from theaters due to the influx of new films on Independence Day. However, it is set to return to cinemas soon. Directed by Sajid Ali, this tragic romantic drama has made history during its re-release, grossing an impressive Rs 4.2 crore net at the box office. 

Presented by Imtiaz Ali, Laila Majnu has achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing its original theatrical earnings within just four days of its re-release. Despite being back in cinemas on a limited number of screens last weekend, the film outperformed new releases like Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Ulajh. 

Originally released in 2018, the film initially went unnoticed due to its relatively unknown lead actors, and it concluded its theatrical run with a modest Rs 2.20 crore, earning it the label of a box office disaster. However, the movie has since garnered a dedicated fanbase and achieved cult status over time.

This resurgence was evident in its re-release, where Laila Majnu nearly doubled its original box office revenue in just six days, reaching a cumulative total of Rs 4.2 crore net in India.

Although the film was temporarily pulled from theaters to make way for new Independence Day releases, it is expected to return to screens once the buzz around the new films subsides. Laila Majnu's strong performance in its re-release demonstrates that quality content eventually finds its audience.
