Arjun Kapoor, often criticized for his acting, recently played the main villain in Rohit Shetty’s action-packed Singham Again. Despite starting his career in 2012 with a lead role in Ishaqzaade opposite Parineeti Chopra, his journey has been with a lot of ups and downs with several flops along the way. His recent film, The Lady Killer (2023), was a major failure, earning only Rs 60,000 against a budget of Rs 45 crore.
Arjun Kapoor, son of famous producer Boney Kapoor and the late Mona Shourie, recently spoke about his career decisions. He also admitted he had doubts about Parineeti Chopra being cast in his debut film, Ishaqzaade, because he thought she was too talkative.
Addressing about her role in Ishqzaade the actor said, " I was very against her when the casting happened. I was like, ' Yeh bahut baat karti hai ' and her readings were also bad. Parineeti Chopra does not like doing workshops and readings; she’s a very spontaneous actor. Or perhaps, she saves it for the sets."
He further recalled how he initially found Parineeti Chopra annoying during the making of Ishaqzaade. He shared that she would respond to jokes with " lol " instead of laughing, which irritated him. He felt she wasn’t taking the film seriously, especially since she had already worked in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and seemed confident. Arjun judged her, assuming she thought too highly of herself despite lacking acting experience.
Recalling the making of the movie Arjun said, " Then we did then we did a mock shoot, and I have to confess, I was so much in shock (of Parineeti’s performance) that I forgot my lines and my acting. My effort learning the script for months had gone to waste. As soon as the camera was on, she had fire in her eyes. Once she was terrific in the mock shoot, I was like, ' Theek hai, yeh karlengi '."
