'I am his fan': Rajkummar Rao Opens Up On Competing With Akshay Kumar

The trailer for Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri starrer Bollywood film, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’, was launched at a multiplex in Mumbai on September 12. The event was attended by the film's cast, including Rajkummar Rao, Triptii Dimri, Archana Puran Singh, Rakesh Bedi and others.

At the event, Rajkummar Rao was asked if he saw himself competing with Akshay Kumar. He replied to this by saying, "I have learned a lot from Akshay sir. I grew up watching stars like him. He is our superstar, and you don't compete with your superstar, you love them. I am his fan."

He further said, "I've learned so much by watching people like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Akshay sir. They'll always be my superstars, and I'll always look up to them."

He also said, "I'm so middle-class that even today, if I get a call from Akshay Kumar, I stand up in excitement and tell everyone, 'Look, Akshay sir is calling!' I can't believe I'm working in the same industry as the people I've admired all my life. Competing with them is unimaginable."

Rajkummar Rao was last seen in ‘Stree 2’ that received a good response from the audience and was a box office success. Rao also opened up on Stree 2’s success, “We are happy that Stree 2 got such a good response and achieved so much success. The numbers mean that many people have watched our film. I've received love from people, personally on messages, calls, and social media.”

He added, “Many people told me, this feels like a personal victory. This made me emotionally vulnerable. A lot of them also said, we are connected with your journey. Your win is like our win, you give us hope. All this was overwhelming for me.”

‘Vicky Vidya Ka Who Wala Video’, starring Triptii Dimri and Rajkummar Rao is a comedy drama film, releasing on October 11.
