Actor Sohum Shah's acclaimed horror film Tumbbad has made a strong return to theaters, quickly gaining love and appreciation from audiences. It's on track to surpass the box office numbers from its original run. Backed by Aanand L Rai, the film is currently competing fiercely with Kareena Kapoor Khan's new release, The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta. In response to the "very expensive" re-release of the 2018 film, Mehta has shared his thoughts.

He said that, "I would love to have them re-released, but re-releasing also is very expensive. I mean the films that have re-released, a lot of money has been spent on re-releasing them."

Speaking about Tumbbad, he remarked,"The kind of money that has been spent on Tumbbad right now; they've more hoardings than Buckingham Murders. The amount of marketing budget that they seem to have put in is phenomenal. And hats off to Sohum, for putting his money where his heart is."

Hansal also mentioned, "I'm just a filmmaker and don't have any other business. I simply don't have that kind of money."

Hansal's latest film was released on the same day as the re-release of Tumbbad. So far, his mystery thriller has earned only Rs 6.80 crore, while Tumbbad has already crossed the Rs 10 crore mark. Reports say that Hansal's movie was made on a budget of Rs 15 crore.

Meanwhile, The Buckingham Murders features Kareena Kapoor, Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. The film is said to be inspired by Kate Winslet's Mare of Easttown and is set in the UK. It follows an Indian detective as he works to solve the murder case of a 10-year-old boy.
