FARHAN AKHTAR REACTS ON ANIMAL

Farhan Akhtar recently shared his thoughts on Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal during a podcast with YouTuber Raj Shamani. While he didn’t praise the film, he emphasized that he believes filmmakers should not face censorship.

Farhan remarked that he doesn’t support the idea of restricting what can or cannot be made, stating, “In our field, if someone tells me not to make a certain film, I would question who they are to dictate what I should or should not create. The laws of this country allow me artistic freedom to express myself, and it’s up to the audience to decide what they want to see. I would never discourage any filmmaker or writer from creating their work. Everyone has their own perspective, and I think trying to limit artistic expression is problematic.”

Regarding the topic of alpha male characters, Farhan commented, “I can’t speak for women. People are attracted to different types of individuals, so some might find alpha males appealing. To me, an alpha is a leader, someone at the top of the hierarchy.”

In contrast, Javed Akhtar, Farhan’s father, has expressed strong disapproval of Animal. At the Ajanta Ellora International Film Festival in January, although he didn’t mention the film by name, he criticized a scene involving Ranbir Kapoor and Triptii Dimri. He remarked, “If a film includes a scene where a man asks a woman to lick his shoe or says it’s acceptable to slap a woman, and the film becomes a hit, that’s dangerous.”
