John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh's upcoming film, Vedaa, is set for release with a U/A certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The CBFC granted the rating on August 6, following the removal of over 9 minutes of content from the film.

Bollywood Hungama reports that the U/A rating came after several edits were made to the film. The CBFC required the filmmakers to add a voiceover to a 1-minute-16-second disclaimer and to alter a dialogue considered derogatory towards women and social identity. The term ‘behenk*or’ was replaced with ‘bana’. Additionally, a 2-minute-16-second scene was cut, the mention of ‘Jodhpur’ was muted when referring to the Jodhpur High Court, and the board requested a 30% reduction in violent visuals within the court scenes.

Scenes featuring Sanskrit shlokas and text reading "Brahmin son…Shudra’s son" were removed, and scenes showing the tearing of currency notes were blurred.

The film's certification was delayed, leading Nikkhil Advani and the producers to issue a joint statement about the hold-up. They acknowledged the delay despite their best efforts and announced that the CBFC revising committee would view Vedaa on July 29, 2024. Pinkvilla confirmed that Vedaa has since received its CBFC certification.

In addition to John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, Vedaa features Abhishek Banerjee and Tamannaah Bhatia. Directed by Nikkhil Advani, who previously collaborated with John Abraham on Batla House, Vedaa is produced by Zee Studios in association with Emmay Entertainment and JA Entertainment. It is slated for release on August 15, 2024, and will compete at the box office with Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Tamannaah Bhatia.
