Alia Bhatt Officially Changes Her Name
Alia Bhatt recently hinted that she may have changed her name after marrying Ranbir Kapoor. The couple tied the knot in April 2022 and welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor, a few months later. During a recent appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Alia surprised her fans by introducing herself as "Alia Bhatt Kapoor" for the first time while interacting with Sunil Grover. Ranbir Kapoor and his mother, Neetu Kapoor, were also featured in the edited promo, which Netflix shared on Instagram with the caption, "Bhatt-er pick your sides for this face-off..." Alia was there to promote her upcoming film Jigra, while Ranbir and Neetu had appeared on the show earlier in the year.

In a lighthearted exchange with Sunil Grover, who was in character as Dafli, the topic of Alia’s name came up. Sunil humorously addressed her as "Alia Bhatt," to which Alia corrected him, saying, "It’s Alia Bhatt Kapoor."
Many viewers took to the comments section of the promo, debating whether Alia was joking or if she had actually joined the ranks of Bollywood stars who changed their names after marriage. For example, Aishwarya Rai became Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after marrying Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra added Jonas to her name after marrying Nick Jonas, and Kareena Kapoor became Kareena Kapoor Khan after marrying Saif Ali Khan.
One fan commented on the promo, suggesting Alia was only joking, writing, "Awesome acting..." Another fan said, "The moment we all were waiting for..." while one asked, "Whyyyyyyyyyyy?" Another comment read, "If you remove both last names, who are you?"
Besides Jigra, co-starring Vedang Raina, Alia has several projects lined up, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War, where she will star alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. She is also set to appear in Alpha as a spy alongside Sharvari Wagh.
