During a recent conversation, Bobby revealed his deep discouragement after being surprisingly dropped from the project, despite his crucial role in its initial stages with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Imtiaz Ali.

While speaking to Instant Bollywood, Bobby recounted how he first came across the concept for Jab We Met. It was during a viewing of the early cut of Socha Na Tha, directed by Imtiaz and featuring Bobby's cousin, Abhay Deol. Captivated by Imtiaz's storytelling, Bobby encouraged the director to craft a script specifically for him. That idea eventually evolved into what would become Jab We Met. "I invested a lot of effort into getting that film made I contacted numerous people," Bobby shared.

Bobby highlighted his crucial contribution in bringing Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision on board. He explained that the producers were ready to collaborate with him but had reservations about Imtiaz, who was still an emerging talent. Bobby championed the collaboration, ultimately convincing them to give the newcomer director an opportunity.

In addition, Bobby approached Kareena Kapoor Khan through an acquaintance to offer her the female lead. Initially, she wasn't interested. The role was also offered to Preity Zinta, who declined at that time but indicated she might reconsider in the future. Despite all his hard work and dedication, Bobby was eventually removed from the cast, and later Kareena joined the film, while Shahid Kapoor replaced Bobby as the male lead. The new pairing went on to become one of the most iconic on-screen duos in Hindi cinema history.

Reflecting on the past, Bobby admitted, "It hurt a lot; I was quite disappointed back then." Yet, he didn't hold any grudges against Imtiaz Ali. Instead, he acknowledged that the director likely had to make a tough decision in favor of the film's vision and outcome.

Bobby's revelation had added a buzz surrounding a possible 'Jab We Met' sequel, prompting speculation about whether he might finally get the chance he was once denied. Only time will unveil if this chapter comes full circle for him.
